A note on ANSI (Windows-1252)
ANSI is also known as Windows-1252. On the other hand, ISO-8859-1 and windows-1252 (ANSI) are very similar. The difference is in the characters associated with the 32 byte values from 0x80 to 0x9F. In iso-8859-1, these characters are mapped to control characters while in windows-1252 (ANSI) are mapped to printable characters such as the ™ trade mark sign (dec = 153). The control characters are useless in HTML, do not declare iso-8859-1 in a html page and try to use these 32 values, although, browsers change these iso-8859-1 characters by the corresponding windows-1252.
